With everyone in the crowd waving out paper cut out lamps in the dark as the ramp began to lit up, Sahil Kochhar delivers a dramatic yet substantial show yet again. It is true that when a designer finds his calling in terms of his forte and sticks to it, even while picking a theme he does best. This holds true for Kochhar as the metal flower appliqué work which they call the ‘3D hand cut petal embroidery’ was the star of the show. The inspiration from the stencil work called ‘saanjhi’ showed through in the designs through the use of different embroideries and bright colours. From floor sweeping gowns to lehengas, the collection spanned through various Indian silhouettes. With the show ending to a foot tapping ‘badan pe sitare’ with Sahil breaking into a dance on the runway, you could tell that he had a flair for drama, not just in his designs.
